About Anna

Anna Slawny LPC Hales Corners WI

I first discovered my love for working with others in middle school. I was part of a support group and realized how helpful it was, so I also wanted to help others. I put my desire to help others into action by joining Americorp-Vista after obtaining my undergraduate degree in psychology from St Olaf College in 1999. I spent four years in Chicago working with individuals who live with homelessness and chronic mental illness. I obtained my counseling master’s degree from UW-Whitewater in 2006. After my graduate degree, I worked in case management as a therapist, crisis services, and post-hospital follow-up. In every role, I have maintained a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to therapy. I am a licensed professional counselor and enjoy helping others move toward becoming the healthiest version of themselves.

We are all ever-evolving. Introspection and reading self-help books is a great place to start. But, sometimes, we need more personalized support to help us meet our goals. I utilize various techniques and treatment modalities in working with clients. Using multiple techniques leads to a treatment style that meets clients where they are and helps them get where they want to be. Therapy gives you time, allows you to shed some tears (if needed), and provides perspective and hope. I am an empathetic listener and would love to be part of helping you start your new adventure.
